What your favourite Rothery solo?
For me theres two
1, technical: The first solo in White Russian (hell anything from CaS to be honest, its a great rothery album, they should do some more like it. As a foot note just look at Live at Lorelei, in Hotel Hobbies Rothery lets it rip!)
2, Passionate: Sugar is always up there, After Me solo at the end really fits perfectly i think and is another great little solo.
What do you guys reckon? Ed

Off the top of my head the solos that really sticks out for me are "The Web" from the Fish era and "Fantastic Place" from H times.(Must listen to all my Marillion albums to dig up the other great solos. I might be some time)

Fish era: Chelsea Monday
H era: Falling From The Moon
Both give me goosebumps every time, which is why I've chosen them. There are many more, but these 2 stuck out.

Very difficult ...
If I had to choose:
F-era: That time of Night (or Maybe White Russian, Blind Curve, Cinderalla Search, aahhhggghhh)
H-era: Seasons End (I think)!
Not much help really! Cheers Chris

This is the question without a valid answer for me Ed. You know, I love Rother's playing because he is my favourite guitarist along with the other two Steve's - Hackett and Howe... So, my answer is: every Steve's solos is a brilliant piece of modern music.

I think my all time favourite would have to be Neverland, but there are so many great ones; Blind Curve, Heart of Lothian, Sugar Mice, 21st Century and Angelina (especially the one on Marbles on the Road).

Hi,
Cool to see a new Marillios forum ... No particular favourite solo for me as well, but i would like to point something special in Marillion music : most of the time when there is a guitar solo the singer stops singing, not in Marillion, the guitar and the voice go along together, combine and complete themeselves. Good examples of what i am talking about can be heard in "Splintering Heart", "Afraid of Sunlight", "The Great Escape" and many, many more ...
